Fat Coffee also know as Butter or Bullet Proof Coffee is a great way to get your fat macros in early and set yourself up for a great day.   I use to always enjoy those sugary latte’s filled with a few 1000 calories and what tasted like a pound of sugar.  I’d get an instant burst of energy but within an hour or so I was almost always ready for a nap.  Not any more.   When I discovered Fat Coffee I hit the jackpot.   This discovery gave me what I was searching for.  A sweet and tasty latte–keto style!

“Keto” is the shortened version of ketogenic. The ketogenic diet is a particular kind of diet and lifestyle. Its often referred to as the high fat diet, which may sound a bit strange… It sure sounded strange to me when I first heard of it!

I’ve always associate the word “fat” with fat on my body, but have come to learn fat is also a great source of fuel for the body. Dietary fats from whole foods like butter or MCT Oil used in “Fat Coffee” provide our bodies with energy. The fat we eat isn’t what causes us to gain more “fat” on our bodies. There are many factors at play with weight gain and weight loss. It’s more complicated than “calories in, calories out,” and the idea that “fat makes you fat,” is a misnomer.

Good healthy fat on the keto diet is your friend, so bring on the Fat Coffee….yum!

Ingredients

  • 8-12 oz Coffee of your choice
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (grass fed)
  • 1 tablespoon MCT oil
  • 2 Tbsp Heavy Whipping Cream

Instructions

  1. In bullet or blender add all ingredients and mix. If using a bullet blender, make sure you are ready to blend before screwing the lid on tight.  Blend only for about 7-10 seconds.  Promptly removing the lid.  (hot liquid causes pressure to build in the container-blend quickly and remove lid cautiously)
  2. Pour into glass of choice and enjoy

Notes

**The key to a latte style fat coffee is to blend all your ingredients. I've found that mixing all the ingredients manually doesn't give me the same "latte" style coffee that blending does!!!

I have seen recipes for bulletproof coffee around, but have yet to try it. Yours seems so simple, I like that!
